Linda Versic

Linda Joan Davies Versic, 73, of Oakwood, OH, passed away October 27, 2017. The daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn (Figard) Davies, Linda was born August 27, 1944 in Grove City, PA.  On June 11, 1966 Linda married Ronald Versic, with whom she spent over 51 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kathryn (Bret) Callentine, son Paul (Angela) Versic, grandchildren Jozef Callentine, Emily Versic, and Charles Versic. Also survived by brother Rick (Denise) Davies and sister Sherry, a sister in law, Karen Davies, nephews Robert (Mary) Davies, Brian Davies, and David (Laura) Davies, great-nephew Morgan Davies.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Lee Davies and sister in law Edith Davies, brother Bill Davies, infant brother James Davies, and infant sister Myrna Davies.

Linda was an active member of Queen of Apostles Community Church for over 46 years.  She was a graduate of Leavittsburg High School and earned her nursing diploma from The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in 1965, bachelor’s degree from Central State University in 1980, and her master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2000.  Linda was employed by Miami Valley Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse for over 15 years. She also taught nursing at Miami Jacobs Junior College before teaching Diversified Health Occupations at Warren County Career Center for 25 years, retiring in 2005.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Linda loved animals and enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, and traveling.  She will be dearly missed.

Linda always had a strong passion for helping others and did so through teaching and nursing.  She was known as “Mom” and “Sarge” by many of her students.  Those wishing to make donations in memory of Linda can do so through The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Nursing Scholarship Fund either online (https://secure.jhu.edu/form/nursing) or at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, 525 N. The funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Apostles: 4400 Shakertown Road on Saturday November 11th.  The family will receive visitors from 10am to 11am in the vestibule.  Mass will follow.  All are welcome to a reception in the fellowship hall after Mass.
