The Great Ohio Optimist District added a new club last night, Nov. 2. We chartered the Falcon Optimist Club at Bowling Green State University.
This club is sponsored by Kettering Noon and Dorwood Optimist Clubs. Here are a few pictures from the event that can be added to District Facebook and website or bulletin info.
The Charter President, Jenna Mamula, got to talk on the phone with OI President Nick Prillaman while we were at the charter meeting. What an awesome group of college kids we were with last night! They will do great things!!
Men of Dor-Wood, this past Thursday (November 2), the Great Ohio District welcomed to the Optimist family the Falcon Optimist Club at Bowling Green State University, the first new club of the Optimist year. Dor-Wood and Kettering Noon are its proud sponsors.
I was joined by Club members Jack Akerman, Paul Atkinson (and wife Jan – both proud BGSU graduates), Lt. Governor Mike McGrew, and District Governor Tom Kendo, along with several members of the Kettering Noon Club and other guests to an organizational meeting held on campus at the Alumni Center. The purpose of the meeting was to officially “charter” the new club into the organization.
The Club chartered with twenty-four student and adult members that evening. Jenna Mamula, a former JOI member and Kettering Fairmont graduate, was sworn-in as the charter president. Jenna had the honor of speaking by telephone with Optimist International President, Nick Prillaman, as he offered his congratulations on the formation of the Club.
It was exciting to hear all the student’s projects planned to serve the many kids in the Bowling Green area. The “Builders of Excellence” were Jack and Paul from Dor-Wood and Sue Armstrong and Jennifer Kendo from Kettering Noon.
